Lauren
...is an Illustrator from Bristol. I live and work in a tiny house in Southville with family and two yappy Jack Russells. I work as a children's book illustrator and usually list my hobbies as drinking tea and procrastinating. I have an allotment and can be relied on to escape to it whenever i can. so if i am unavailable....thats probably where i am with my phone abandoned by the compost heap.

Brillustration (Last Tuesday of the Month)
May 23rd
Hi. Just thought i would publicise a little group that is going in Bristol for Illustrators, bookmakers, children’s authors etc.
A few people who have mentioned they are interested in coming along that can’t find the Facebook site that it is run from… so sorry but the link that was on this page has broken. do try our lovely blog at
http://brillustrationbristol.blogspot.com
http://www.facebook.com/groups/263001087050493/
there thats better! should work now.
Brillustration
Do come along and join the Facebook sight and join in if you like.
We don’t do membership, agendas, subs. well pretty much anything structured at all.
What we often do is bring along a picture book. It sort of helps to break the ice.
It is just a place where illustrators and the like can meet have a few beers… or coffees… whatever and remind ourselves we are not the only ones sitting in our spare rooms/studios/bedrooms scribbling away. and it does stop us talking to fluffy pen tops, coconuts with faces painted on them or any other unsuitable inanimate object.
We generally meet in the Tobacco Factory on the last Tuesday of the month but due to some people coming a long way every month we do move venue on occasion..so do check the Facebook page.
If you are a member of the Brillustration page you will be informed if there is a change of venue.
Cheers, Lauren x
Day 101!
Apr 24th
Well can’t think of what to put down as the title for the rest of this ..ah well.
will have to stay as is for a spell.
back in the work cave dogs curled up behind me.
occasionally have to look up and glance at the lovely dummy that they have given me…it keeps me going.
(at least now I don’t have to stress about my daily blog )
It may be fun to see what it morfs into.
DAY 100
Apr 21st
Well a hundred days of drawing.
Done.
Although I will admit to a bit of a shilly shally approach come the last few weeks.
It has been a fabulous experience that has really helped me learn so much.. from how on earth to blog lots of teccky stuff that I am still a bit wobbly on (stabilizers still well and truly on) and to a small part understand and except how I draw and what I draw.
It is lovely to feel part of a community of such fascinating and talented people there are blogging. ok gush alert!!
….mind you they are so fascinating that I do need another layer of self-discipline not to spend all day on the internet.
The last image was a difficult one I was wondering about spending a load of time doing a flashy image but realised of course I would suffer tremendous performance anxiety and never do anything so the best thing to do would be just treat it like any other day and just post up what I would normally do.
an image that sort of sums up the time spent.
After the crazy land of the london book fair, me and sam escaped to eat his mums legendary date cake and pootle about the V&A only one tube stop away from earls court (bonus)
then back for the last (in my case booze fuled) pinball around the networking event. (one of the reasons to go to the book fair but also one of the reasons to run far far away!) as soon as people line glasses of wine on a white tablecloth and arrange olives and crisps on little plates my palms sweat!
well thanks again for dropping by the blog and maybe drop by again in a few days when I will have decided what to rename it . ..maybe another 100 days..? suffice to say I aint done.
cheers Lauren
